Cara/Davide studio

Cara/Davide is a multidisciplinary design studio based in Milan. A collaboration between Cara Judd (South Africa) and Davide Gramatica (Italy).
Their works are characterised by an ongoing research in material, territory and perception of geometries. They produce their own series of products working closely with artisans in Italy and South Africa.

Their collections are represented by galleries in Europe and USA. In the same way, they work closely with brands to produce new collections and have recently been commissioned to design interiors such as retail spaces and exhibition scenographies. Cara and Davide both lecture in the Product Design Department at IED Milan.

What is craftsmanship for you today?
Craftsmanship is a kind of union between man and nature. The skills of a craftsman always refer to a specific material, whether it be wood, ceramic or any other material, it is the unique relationship in itself that represents its greatest value.
Craftsmanship, even more so today, is the place of experimentation, the promoter of an alternative progress of which objects and products are its symbols.

Your motto?
Difficult to say, a recurring aspect in almost everything we do is our marked diversity, we feel a bit on the extremes and the attempt to mediate unites and defines us.
